Description
The liver is a digestive gland that produces bile, an alkaline compound which helps the breakdown of fat. Bile aids in digestion via the emulsification of lipids (fats). The gallbladder, a small pouch that sits just under the liver, stores bile produced by the liver which is afterwards moved to the small intestine to complete digestion.
The liver, detoxifies various metabolites, synthesizes proteins, and produces biochemicals necessary for digestion. Its other roles in metabolism include the regulation of glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells and the production of hormones.
When the liver does not function properly, the bile does not excrete freely into the intestinal tract, and so it passes off into the blood stream and throughout the rest of the system, causing a toxic condition called cholemia. Cholemia, is a condition caused by the presence of excess bile in the blood. Its symptoms can include somnolence (drowsiness), yellow tinge to skin and whites of eyes, fatigue, nausea and, in extreme cases, coma. It is often an early sign of liver disease.
This formula assists the liver in coming back to balance and continuing to be a healthy filtering agent for the blood stream.
